Tonight, I'm taking you Behind the Mind for an exclusive behind the scenes view of Man vs Wild.
Here is a clip of the sketch in case you missed tonight episode.
In case you didn't know, Man vs. Wild is a cable TV show where a man shows you how to survive if you're ever stranded in a dangerous remote location. Our thought was, why go so far away when there are plenty of places a white boy would not want to be stranded right in your own city. Watch.
The entire sketch was shot all over South Central Los Angeles.
Here is the shot of Carlos presenting the contents of his bag.
This will give you an idea of what it looks like when filming the scene live.
There is the director of the sketch talking with Joseph (whose back is turned to us) The director is giving him notes...and Joseph is thinking "What? You don't like it?"
No, our set wasn't robbed. That's one of our costumers who apparently owes money to one of the gangs in the neighborhood. Or she was scared to breathe in inner city air. Either way...I'm not sure what that was about.
On the right is our chief prop master, talking the scene over with a couple of camera men from inside the Korean market.
Here's a shot of Carlos running down the street.
This is a picture of what they were filming and what you saw on TV. Joseph's face looks so real. I really believe he wants to kill him. I wonder where he got the sense memory to bring such a high quality of performance. Maybe this picture had something to do with it.
Here, one of the Executive Producers talks the scene over with
Carlos and Joseph. Again Joseph is thinking, "What? You don't like it?"
