The brothel with a heart...who knew?

I get it, gas prices are high. I get it. I own a car and surprisingly enough, it runs on gas. I have to occasionally put this "so-called" gas into the car. Gas prices are flirting with the five dollar mark and something must be done about it...and I'm happy to report that a brothel in Nevada is doing its part to help with these "hard" times (pun intended).

So, the "Shady Lady" Ranch is offering a $50 dollar gas voucher for spending $300 dollars on their "services" (which I'm sure include housekeeping and dog-walking). The owner of the brothel says that he gave away $1,000 dollars in gas vouchers within the first week of this promo.

I say, hey, if you're going to spend money on a "job", then you might as well get something out of it. I think of it as a sex rebate. What a great idea! I mean, I can't, nor would I, judge them for having a brothel because brothels are legal in parts of Nevada. It's a business and if you have to give an incentive for coming out to attain services, then so be it. Right? Or am I alone on this one?

India Wins Weird News Record of the Week...

I like reading the weird and odd news. They're sometimes entertaining. This week though I found that India graced the odd news segment a number of times. Here are the recaps that made me think: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (or WTF? I got this from the Real World: Hollywood episode that I saw this week).

News Story #1: Divorce, Of Course...
This is the first story I read this week. It's about a couple in New Delhi that recently learned they had unknowingly divorced ten years ago. How does a LITTLE mistake like this happen? Well, from what the story says, the "wife" was attempting to file a suit against her in-laws (what else is knew-insert slideshow whistle) when the government told her that they weren't her "in-laws" anymore. Turns out that her brother-in-law forged her divorce from his brother a decade ago....WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT? The "couple" are now trying to file forgery charges against the brother.

News Story #2: Dad, don't get mad-I just tried to kill you, that's all
This second storytakes place in Patna, India and is about a guy that hired a relative for $2500 to kill his father ONE DAY before his retirement so that he can get the job. He claims that he figured he could get his father's job on compassion. Hmm....how about skills? Not good enough for that?

News Story #3: And she's BUYING a stairway to heaven...
This third story takes place in the same city as story number 2 (what are they thinking over there?) and is about a wealthy Indian woman that bought a feast to feed 100,000 people because she thinks that it'll help her get into heaven after she dies. To tell you the truth, this is smart thinking. What better way to make sure to get into heaven than to flat out publicize this soiree? You go girl....straight up to the pearly gates!

I have included the links to the stories, in case you want to read them. What are the chances that two of the odd stories take place in the same city though? Weird!

The "Should've Been" News

September 6, 2007 AT 12:04PM | Comments (4)

Here's what today's top story should've been.

Getmsg In a zoo in California , a mother tiger gave birth to a rare set of triplet tiger cubs. Unfortunately, due to complications in the pregnancy, the cubs were born prematurely and due to their tiny size, they died shortly after birth.

The mother tiger after recovering from the delivery, suddenly started to decline in health, although physically she was fine. The veterinarians felt that the loss of her litter had caused the tigress to fall into a depression. The doctors decided that if the tigress could surrogate another mother's cubs, perhaps she would improve.

Getmsg3 After checking with many other zoos across the country, the depressing news was that there were no tiger cubs of the right age to introduce to the mourning mother. The veterinarians decided to try something that had never been tried in a zoo environment.

Sometimes a mother of one species will take on the care of a different species. The only orphans that could be found quickly, were a litter of weanling pigs. The zoo keepers and vets wrapped the piglets in tiger skin and placed the babies around the mother tiger. Would they become cubs or pork chops? Take a look...you won't believe your eyes!!

If this isn't proof that we all can't get along...I don't know what is!
